BERNARD E. PAULSON "SWEDE" ST. JOHN, IN FORMERLY OF DYER, IN Bernard "Swede" Paulson, 87, of St. John, IN, formerly of Dyer, IN, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Rose; sons: Edward Paulson, Mark (Andrea) Paulson, Craig (Susie) Paulson, and Richard (Sue) Paulson; grandchildren: Jaime (Dave) Keene, Melanie (Derek) Qualls, Ricky Paulson, Daniel Paulson, Steven Paulson, and Hailey Paulson; great grandchildren: Madison and Connor Keene, and Brody and Grace Qualls; and sisters-in-law: AnnaMae Krajewski, Irene Huber and Betty Huber. He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Violet Paulson and two brothers and a sister. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday May 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Joseph Church, 440 Joliet St., Dyer, IN, with Rev. Terry Steffens officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Visitations will be held Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 4:00 p.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. St. John, IN. Mr. Paulson was a retired Captain of the East Chicago Police Dept. and was formerly employed as a Service Representative for Motorola for 17 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII Pacific Fleet and a 69 year member of American Legion Allied Post 369 in East Chicago and a former member of the Dyer Police Commission.
