Therese DeSanto Obituary

Therese E. DeSanto (nee Onesti) Whiting / East Side, IL Therese E. De Santo (nee Onesti), 91 of Whiting, formerly of the East Side of Chicago, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2004 at the Gilead Elder Care, Berrien Springs, Michigan. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank DeSanto who passed away September 7, 1992. Loving mother of Bob DeSanto of Benton Harbor, MI, and Elaine M. (Albert) Gajewski of Whiting, IN. Devoted grandmother of Doctor Tanya (Dr. Craig) DeSanto-Batterman of Springfield, IL, Jeffrey (Karen) Gajewski of Whiting, IN, and Rob DeSanto of Chicago Heights, IL and Therese DeSanto of Benton Harbor, MI; two great-grandchildren: Emma and Grace Batterman; fond sister-in-law of Martin Saurine of Michigan; and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Emily Saurine and brother, Samuel Onesti. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Whiting, with Rev. Stanley J. Dominik officiating. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Visitation at the funeral home Wednesday, 4 to 9 p.m. Therese DeSanto was born on May 20, 1912 in Chicago, IL, to Dominick and Marianna (Fattore) Onesti. She and her husband owned Frank's Live Bait and Tackle Shop on Ewing Avenue on the East Side of Chicago for 35 years, before moving to the Robertsdale section of Hammond in 1990. An active member of the East Side Business Mens Association and the Chicago Democratic Organization. She was also a member of the East Side Seniors Club. Therese was a kind and giving lady and will be missed by her family and all that knew and loved her. 219-659-4400
