Fred W. Korwek, age 88, son of the late Leo and Theresa Korwek, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017. Survived by his son, Michael D. Korwek; grandson, Christopher Korwek; brothers: Robert Korwek, Jerry (Janice) Korwek; sisters-in-law: Eleanor (late Chester) Siminski, Bernadine (late Eugene) Kezy; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; daughter, Diana; brother, Ray; sister- in-law, Betty Korwek; mother-in-law, Helen Satanek; brother-in-law, Andrew Satanek; and parents. Fred was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Merrillville, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Seniors. He was a graduate of Tolleston High School, Class of 1946. Fred was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was a retired foreman of the Budd Co., Gary Plant. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 DIRECTLY from St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 801 W. 73rd Ave., Merrillville with Rev. Brian Chadwick officiating. There will be one half-hour of visitation at church prior to services. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, spiritual gifts may be made to Share Foundation.
