TEDDY P. TOPOR HIGHLAND/ EAST CHICAGO, IN
Ted Topor, age 87, of Highland, IN, passed away peacefully Monday, June 5, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. Preceded in death by his wife Geraldine (nee Tresnowski) of 54 years, sister Theresa, and parents Peter and Mary. He is survived by his four children: Terrence, Lawrence, Scott (Debbie), and Michael (Melissa); brothers Thomas (Carol) and Carl (Julie); grandchildren: Melissa (Brad), Sydney, Shannon, Christie, and Andrew; great grandchildren: Tony, Ava, and Gracie. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the Fagen- Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave in Highland on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to follow at Our Lady of Grace Church. Burial St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond. Friends may meet with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Ted was a 1949 graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, IN where he was a standout football player. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952 where he continued his football career playing on the 1951 Rose Bowl Champion Team and earning the team MVP Award in 1952. He was drafted in the Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War. He played professional football for the Detroit Lions in 1955. He was an active member of the Local 150 for over 40 years working as a heavy equipment operator. He coached a local semi-pro football team, The Calumet Steelers. Ted was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Ted loved his church, family, and Polish heritage. He will be forever missed by all who knew him well. www.fagenmiller.com
