ARTHUR TAUBER

TAUBER--Arthur D. "Coach", 94, a resident of Manchester, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lenore, his children Roberta and Sidney Klotz, Fraida and Rabbi Yeruchem Cohen, Richard and Susan Tauber, and Steven Tauber, eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Prior to retirement, Mr. Tauber was the Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital and a long time fencing coach and Athletic Director at Yeshiva University. He had many accomplishments during his life. His record as the only person to win NCAA medals in all three types of weapons-epee, foil and saber stands today. In 2001 he was elected to the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame. Mr. Tauber received the Bronze Star for his U.S. military service in World War II, and was appointed a "Chevalier" with the French Legion of Honor. After returning from the war, he began a successful career in physical medicine and rehabilitation with the Veterans Administration and was a member of the President's Committee for Rehabilitative Medicine for the VA hospital system. The family asks that donations in his memory be made to the charity of your choice.
