LAITMAN--Samuel. Our partner and friend Samuel Laitman, who passed away last week, was a member of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP for 34 years. He joined our Firm in 1966, where he became partner and head of our Trusts and Estates Practice. Sam's love of the arts and culture was evident by his many philanthropic endeavors and steadfast community involvement. He was an excellent lawyer and a compassionate man. We will remember him with the utmost respect and we offer our deepest sympathy to his family; he will be greatly missed by his friends and former colleagues at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

It is of course sad that we do not have more years of his gentle humor and wry cantankerousness to look forward to, but few of us can deny that Lynn has been waiting for him long enough.

I did not know Mr. Laitman personally, but I did know OF him and all that I DID know was good. He was widely respected, admired, and loved throughout our community. We have suffered the loss of a kind friend and benefactor to so many.

Sandy was one of the "older guys" on Eastern Parkway and at Poly Prep. He was not only the nicest of that group, but also a very good basketball player. i will always remember his kindness to me. I cherish his friendship.

Sandy was the kindest gentleman I've known. Generous of spirit, and of material wealth, he was a good friend and an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace, friend.
