Wendy was bright, beautiful, gifted, and very funny. She was a thoughtful, kind friend who brightened the lives of all of us who knew her.

I had a long lunch with Wendy the other day, discussing projects, and life, after which we stood on the street corner and talked briefly. I gave her a hug and kissed her on the check, something I had never done before, and said goodbye. A few days later I heard the news. "You are closer to your agent than you are to your wife," wrote Louis Auchincloss. I am not married, but I felt closer to her than to anyone else. I miss her terribly. Everyone I know who knew her loved her. I told her everything. I think of her family, of those who worked with her, and of all her authors. Jere Van Dyk

I was a classmate of Wendy's at Wellesley. She was always fun, funny and upbeat. Everyone on campus loved her and, I am sure, everyone who knew her will miss her.

I was shocked to learn, belatedly, of Wendy's sudden and untimely death. I had seen her in New York City only four days before she passed away, book in her lap at her country home in Connecticut, at a talk between Greil Marcus and Cyndi Lauper. Wendy was her usual elegant self and now, astonishingly, gone. Words are but poor recompense for what Time has taken away, as the poet said. She was in her equable disposition and stalwart commitment to her authors an exemplary woman of letters. She was, for me as for so many others, an inspiration. She will remain so.

To Wendy's Family, It is with deep sympathy that I write this. Even though your hearts are heavy at this time, know that Wendy has moved on to a better place. Her legacy will live on through all of her good works and deeds.

Wendy, You and your family were wonderful to me for many years after you and your mother had graced the cover of Field and Stream. You were such loving company; in the city, skiing in VT, swimming in the Poconos, and my boys loved the farm and toys which you sent. You are a true love to all you met.

Wendy, your smile, your wit, your laughter, and most of all your belief in me and in so many other writers will never be forgotten. Your beautiful spirit touched and inspired each of us who were blessed to know you. With love and gratitude for all you gave so generously to me and to my family.

One of the few agents' agents, not to mention such a lovely person. I was her upstairs neighbor at work for 8 years. And I often heard her extolled by a friend whose mentor she was. Cheers Wendy!

I will always remember Wendy for her great taste in authors and writing, but also for her grace, her savvy, her warmth, her style, her socks. She loved her husband with all of her heart, but saved a lot of room in that big heart for her publishing colleagues and her authors. I am devastated to learn of her loss. WENDY: YOU WILL BE MISSED!!
