Thank you for adding my message and name.
Sorry for the inappropriate first entry, although that was how I first learned about Bart. I was thrilled to learn I was not the only leftist in the world.
Lets hope there will be others like him in the future.

I first met Bart as a high school student at Midwood High School in 1968. He inspired me as he did a generation of students for his antiwar activism and persistent support of progressive causes. He helped my family create a scholarship dedicated to my mother's memory, given each year to a Brooklyn College English major for accomplishments in activist journalism.
I was so sorry to hear of his death.

Bart will be missed by many. He was a fine man who continued to love, teach, read, learn and lead his very full life all though his illness and met the end of his life with the same courage and conviction that energized that period of his life when he was a leader in the resistance to the war in Viet Nam of which he was so proud. Yes, a fine man who will be remembered and missed by many.

What an Indomitable spirit, irrepressible fountain of hopeful opposition, a better future walked in his life, a pleasure to speak with and march with such an extraordinary person, colleague, activist, constructive in the worst of times, deeply saddened by his passing, my best to Alice and his kids.
