I had the privilege of meeting Mr & Mrs Lauder back in 1997. I was working with a catering company for her "Elements in Nature" exhibition. I was immediately drawn to the Lauders for his sense of humor and her graciousness. When the evening was drawing to a close I went to say good night and asked Mrs. Lauder to sign one of her invitations for me

I did not know her, but after reading her Bio, my thoughts are that she was a woman who cared for others, even while she was suffering with her own disease.
Also, she was a powerhouse of Breast Cancer research and for helping to create the "Pink Ribbon" campaign is a huge legacy to her. May she rest in peace. My thoughts & prayers are with her family.

May your name and product live forever and ever. Your memory will never die, thanks for being someone that has done things for Breast Cancer. GOD bless and keep you and your family safe from all the evil things in this world forever. That does include the evil of cancer. Because of you, cancer is well known, because of you, cancer survivors are well known. I am a survivor of cancer, I had Cervical Cancer, and I'm alive. Now the survivors don't have to be afraid to let people know the evils of Cancer. And I say THANK YOU, EVELYN LAUDER.

Back in the early 60's I was the accessory buyer at Gus Mayer in Jackson, Mississippi. The cosmetic department was part of my accessory department. What I remember so well is the YOUTH DEW fragrance. I wear it well to this day. It has become my signature parfum to this day. Even my grandchildren say, "Nana, we knew you were here, 'cause we smelled your sweet smellum' ". I feel that I have a kindred spirit Estee. Not only am I passionate about Youth Dew, but I use most of the products to this day. The Youth Dew bath powder is a must after my bath or shower. The remainder of the products I use faithfully are a serious must for me. In fact, my bathroom looks like an Estee cosmetic counter. Thank you to Estee and now her wonderful family for continuing these products.

Whenever I'm in Tuscany and see a field of sunflowers I think of Evelyn. I think of her when I clip on my pink ribbon in October, when I lace up my sneakers before the Race for the Cure and when I go to Sloan Kettering and see the photos that gave me hope so many years ago. Evelyn Lauder has inspired me personally and professionally, and I feel truly fortunate to have known her. My condolences to the family. Know that she is loved, admired and remembered by so many.

We passed by a beautiful synagogue today where there were police and private security guards everywhere, as well as the press. Most of the men outside were wearing pink ribbons on their lapels. I asked another passerby who was being memorialized. She told me it was Evelyn Luader. How sad I felt knowing someone so dedicated to a wonderful cause has left us. But her legacy lives on and hopefully in the near future we will see a cure for breast cancer (my aunt is a 10 yr. survivor). Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Dear William,

I cannot express enough how sad it is to hear of the passing of such an extraordinary woman. All women in our company have been blessed to have witnessed such grace and leadership by example of our modern day icon. Her elegance and kindness to all who came into contact with her will not be forgotten.

Mrs. Lauder was so proud of her family and would share her pride as I will not forget a brief conversation I had with her in the elevator at the GM of how her grandson caught a particularly rare fish in Bermuda on a family vacation.

She was the “Heart of Estee Lauder Companies” and will surely be missed.

We all share in your loss.

Many blessings,
