SARAH VERDONE Obituary

VERDONE--Sarah. Cherished wife of Tucker Viemeister and mother of Josephine and Louisa, died on March 11, 2010 at the age of 45. Surrounded by those who loved her, Sarah died peacefully at home after an extraordinarily brave battle with cancer that ended her all-too-short time with us. Sarah gave every ounce of herself to living throughout her illness supported by countless friends and her loving sisters and brothers: Michael Verdone, Anne Kane, Garrett Verdone, Susan Jankolovits, Moriah Sterling, Therese Wilson. Her absence will not only be felt by those who knew her intimately and cared for her deeply, but also by those who read her pithy reviews and commentaries on art, design, fashion, food and travel. A great beauty, generous, funny and deeply empathetic, Sarah was a writer who kept family at the center of her life. Tucker's love and commitment, Josephine's grace and Louisa's spirit sustained her in life and will continue to bear witness to her memory.

Tucker Jo and Lou--
I keep catching glimpses of Sarah on the street, in the subway, walking into our building. She was such a beautiful spirit.

Dear Tucker, Jo and Lou,
We spent time with you guys at the beach house and the last time we saw you all was at Kirsten and Ed's. We're thinking of you with lots of love in our hearts. We will miss beautiful Sarah very much.

What a loss; such a beautiful and insightful person. The shock I felt upon learning is softened only by knowing that your beautiful children have such a great Dad in Tucker. My heart goes out to Sarah and Tucker's family.

I prayed for Sarah daily during her battle and will continue to do so for her and for Tucker, Josephine and Louisa. May you find peace in knowing Sarah suffers no more and that she's still watching over you. God bless you.
