HUXTABLE--Ada Louise. It is with a deep sense of sorrow I learned of Ada Louise Huxtable's death. It was her effort to stop the sale of St Bartholmew's church that eventually led to the church's plan to demolish only the community house, terrace and garden which in turn led to the survival of the entire complex. It's survival was caused by the community's efforts of which I was a part in hand with preservationists throughtout the city. Ms. Huxtables' article in the N.Y. Times inspired our effort to protect and preserve St. Bartholomew's which ended in a great court victory and a victory for the cause of preservation in New York. Her love of good architecture and its preservation inspired me to hope some day to follow in her extraordinary footsteps. Joyce Matz
