OKIN--Anne R., passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2014. Born May 13, 1917, she grew up in the Bronx, and lived in Manhattan after her marriage, in 1940. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Hunter College, she taught English at Hunter High School in the 1950s. She received her law degree from NYU in 1958, and went into practice with her late husband, Louis. She took to heart the Phi Beta Kappa motto and was guided by it into old age: "The love of learning is the guide to life." She will be remembered with deep respect, admiration and, above all, love by her children, Elizabeth and Steven; their spouses, Jak Ninyo and Carolyn Okin; her five grandchildren, Adam and Jared Ninyo, and Michael, Rebecca, and Rachel Okin; and by many other family members and friends. The service is private. Donations may be made in Anne Okin's memory to Congregation Shearith Israel at 8 West 70th Street, New York, NY 10023.
