Seeing this reminds me of the episodes that she starred with Chad Everett on Medical Center, they complemented each other so well on the screen. She was a beautiful actress as he was a beautiful actor. Both in their own rights, lite the screen and made the episode so compelling that you wanted more. Linda Johnston, Troy, IL

Celeste was a great actress. The only thing that I watched with her was Tom Sawyer and she played Aunt Polly. She was great. I haven't seen Tom Sawyer in a very long time. Now I will have to watch it again sometime. Celeste will be greatly missed. My prayer and thoughts go out to her family at this time.

when "The king and I" first came to broadway the lead actress got very sick. To save the show and the investment they asked Celeste to fill in. Above Yule Brenner or anyone else the gave Celeste TOP billing. She was a hit. Her greatest moments were in the theater.

Celeste has always been one of my very favorite actresses. Her elegance, charm, wit and beauty were beyond compare. I think I've seen every movie and television show she was in and loved every moment. It did not surprise me to read of her many charitable works. She was a true "lady" and will be missed in the world as well as in the world of entertainment. My sincere sympathy goes to her family, especially her sons who missed out on her final years.

"She never knew what an impression she made"
Holm may have said that about Pavlova, but many of us may also say this of her. I always enjoyed her film roles and am sorry she is no longer with us.
May she find overwhelming peace and abundant happiness, which seemed to have been somewhat sparse in her later years, on the other side.

Comfort for your sorrow,
courage for each day,
Strength to face this journey,

And his love to hold you gently

I lived in the theatre district for many years, and so I was rarely star-struck. But on September 14, 1989, my 30th birthday, my Mom and our dear friend Jim Riley of IATSE, both sadly now deceased, treated me to dinner at Sardi's.
We're shown to a table for four, with two chairs and a bench seat against Sardi's famous wall of caricatures. The tables are very close together. I sat against the wall. I look to my right, and not two feet away from me, at the next table, are Helen Hayes and Celeste Holm.
Ohhh. My. God.
We had a delightful dinner, as you might expect. And when it came time for dessert, I got the Sardi's treatment. At Sardi's, when it's your birthday, the entire staff of the restaurant, from the front desk captain to the executive chef to the lowliest dishwasher, assembles around your table and gives you a rousing version of "Happy Birthday."
Led, on this occasion, by Helen Hayes and Celeste Holm.
I was so moved that I cried. One of my most profound regrets is that nobody took a photograph.
