DOUGLAS D. DONALD

DONALD--Douglas Dunn, 90, passed away October 1. Born on Staten Island, he was the son of Norman H. Donald and Emilie M. Donald. He leaves his wife of 66 years Grace R. Donald, his daughter Wendy D. Schaumberg and his son Peter Gordon Donald, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He received his Engineering degree from Princeton University and his Masters of Science and Mining Engineering from the School of Mines, Columbia University. He was a World War II veteran, serving for two years in the South Pacific as a Naval officer. He had been with Scudder Stevens and Clark from 1962 until 1996 and was Vice President and Manager of Scudder's Gold Fund since its inception in 1988. After retiring, he started a precious metals stock consultancy and was on the boards of Piedmont Mining, Repadre Capital, Stillwater Mining and Dayton Mining companies. His professional memberships included the Society of Mining Engineers, Association for Investment Management and Research, Mining and Metallurgical Society of America and New York Society of Security Analysts. His New York interests included Squadron A., Sons of the Revolution, Saint Nicholas Society and Church Club. He was a trustee of Staten Island Richmond Town Restoration and was a director and on the board of Staten Island Historical Society and was instrumental in engineering the coordination of the two organizations which are now under the management of the Staten Island Historical Society. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 6 at 12 Noon in the Chapel of St. George's Episcopal Church, Stuyvesant Square, New York City.
