HARMON--Elizabeth Hunt, beloved daughter of Frank and Judy Harmon of Pocatello, ID and cherished sister of Franklin Harmon of Albany, CA and Matthew Harmon of Los Angeles, CA, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at New York Presbyterian Hospital. A paleoanthropologist, Elizabeth was a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology at Hunter College--CUNY and a contributor to the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology. She was a gifted teacher and scholar. Her research interests took her to Ethiopia every year where she co-directed a paleontological field project in the Rift Valley of Ethiopia. Elizabeth was born in 1965 in Laramie, WY and raised in Pocatello, ID. After graduating from Portland State University in Portland, OR, she spent several years as a field archaeologist in various areas of the world before entering Arizona State University where she earned her Ph.D. under the tutelage of the Institute of Human Origins. Elizabeth leaves behind many dear friends, colleagues, students and a legacy of work that has earned her the respect and admiration of her peers. Her family appreciates the many expressions of love and respect received, as they mourn the loss of her bright spirit.
