RAPKIN--Eva Samuel, passed away July 15, 2013 in her apartment at Stonebridge in Skillman, NJ. She was the beloved wife of sixty years of Professor Chester Rapkin. Eva Rapkin is survived by her loving son David Rapkin of New York City, her faithful daughter-in-law Ilene Goldsmith Rapkin, her devoted grandson Asher Goldsmith Rapkin of Brooklyn, New York, her sister-in-law Marietta Samuel of Jerusalem, Israel, her nieces and nephew Aliza, Nina and Josh and their beloved children. Eva was a worldly and highly cultured woman whose youth in Palestine shaped her later love of Israel where relatives still reside. Her interest in opera, art, music, world events and literature informed her lively conversations and long standing relationships with many Princeton friends. She had a wicked sense of humor and was a welcome guest at the holiday tables of her New York family. Her life with her husband was fulfilling as she traveled the world with Professor Chester Rapkin of Princeton University
, an internationally renowned city planner as well as a City Planning Commissioner of the City of New York under Mayor John Lindsay. Her home was filled with books, art, and the welcoming spirit of a woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A private graveside funeral will be held on Thursday only for immediate family.
