SLOAN--Frank, passed away on February 19, 2014 at the age of 76. Survived by his husband and companion of 18 years, Kieran Walsh. Beloved son-in-law of Mary Walsh. Loving brother-in-law of Shane, Anne and David. Uncle of Andrew, William and Lauren. Survived by his cousin Trudy and many loving friends. Frank was a native of Tarentum, PA. In 1959 he graduated from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in English. Frank moved to New York City in the early sixties and quickly established himself in the publishing world. Specializing in children's nonfiction, he would work in this industry for over forty years. Frank was a board member of the SCBWI and the distinguished author of notable books such as Titanic and Bismarck. In addition, he had a lifelong passion for opera and a great love of dogs, especially Teddy. Frank enriched every life he touched and will be greatly missed.
