METZGER--Norman, 88, died peacefully on February 16th 2013. His devoted wife, Marcia, predeceased him. He will be missed terribly by his son Bart and daughter-in-law Abigail (Abysalh), his grandchildren, Matthew and Erica and her partner, Brynn and his great-grandchildren, Evan and Judah. Professor Metzger was the Chief Human Resources Officer at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center from 1960 through 1990, founding President of the League of Voluntary Hospitals (and Homes) and President of the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration. He was widely considered the "Dean" of the healthcare human resources world. Author of 15 books and innumerable articles, he was the first to occupy the Edmond A. Guggenheim Endowed Chair for Healthcare Management at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He was also an adjunct professor at the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City of New York. Teacher, mentor, loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, he was a force of nature. His presence leaves a legacy that will not easily be duplicated. Memorial Service on February 21st at 11:30am arranged by The Riverside Memorial Chapel.
