LONSDALE--Dr. Richard C., Professor Emeritus at New York University, passed away on March 11, 2013 in Glenmoor Retirement Community, St. Augustine, FL where he resided for nine years. In 1942 Dr. Lonsdale was commissioned in the Navy as a Lieutenant JG and participated in the North Africa and in the Utah Beach D-Day landings. He received his doctorate in educational administration in 1952 from Syracuse University, where he taught until 1964. He then taught at New York University until his retirement in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Claire, son Bill, daughter-in-law Jackie, grandson Sam, stepsons John R. Glennon and David A. Glennon and their families. He is also survived by stepchildren Win Rockwell and Sandy Robinson and their families. He was predeceased by his first two wives Carolyn Kelley Lonsdale and Ruth Rockwell Lonsdale.
