STEVE KINDRED Obituary

KINDRED--Steve. May 12, 1944-December 9, 2013. Loving husband, father, brother, friend, co-worker, and comrade. Activist and labor reformer of heart, energy, and imagination. Nonstop talker and reader. Driver of everything from carhaul convoys to step-vans. Survived by his wife and son, Ellen and Ben Goldensohn; older brothers, Jerry and Mike Kindred; in-laws, Betty, Marty, Ruth, Gwenda, and Pam. His spirits were buoyed by his nieces and nephews, Audrey, Jessie, Thomas, Rachel, Rebecca, Sasha, Rosie, Emma, Newell, Michael, Sophie, Theo, Benjamin and the late Andrew. A true friend to those society had cast out. To him, all were equal and had dignity. Sui generis.

So very sorry that Steve is gone. He was larger-than-life, with a very giving heart....certainly brilliant! I was a high school classmate of his in Sioux City, Iowa.

I knew him years ago and counted him a friend and a fine and courageous comrade. I'm sad to learn of his death.
