I first met Jerry as a client in 1985 and had the pleasure of learning from and working with him and his colleagues a number of times within my 30 year career in hospital and academic medicine development. My professional library includes several of his outstanding books - some personally signed; all well worn around around the edges and heavily marked with notes and yellow hi-liter. He was a mentor and a master of the art and science of development; a true gentleman and a friend. He will be missed.

Jerry helped our development program at the University of Tennessee as a consultant over the course of campaigns for our Library and the college of Engineering. I also brought him in for system-wide staff meetings to lead discussions concerning major gift fundraising. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm. He was always available when I reached out to him and remained a trusted friend after my retirement. I was blessed to have known him.

Toca, cambia y salva vidas
Carpe Diem
Cada vez que pida un donativo, tus palabras y enseñanzas será pensando en siempre en ti!!

Mexico always received Jerry Panas with open hearts.
Once in Veracruz he was called: "Jerry the Hurricane" not only because the force of his words but his keynote speech was transmitted in the national alert broadcasting only used for emergencies and nature disasters events.
That was when he started the NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO STRENGTHEN FUNDRAISING AND INSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN MEXICO.
His books in Spanish are the guide for many institutions and professionals in the field.
Thanks Jerry for your legacy and your love to Mexico!

I learned fundraising from Jerry Panas. Through meeting him and spending a little precious time under his tutelage, hearing him speak at countless seminars, and reading nearly every word he's written, Panas's heartwarming stories and his understanding of the true meaning of philanthropy have shaped my career and my own views on philanthropy - the love of people. You will be sorely missed, Jerry...

Jerry Panas was the best of the best. He shaped the modern world of fundraising and elevated the profession to the respected level and popularity of today. I took his seminars, devoured his books, and even worked for him as a consultant on one of his many projects. He inspired so many, both philanthropists and professional fundraisers. My deepest condolences to his loving family.
