DAVID KRAUS Obituary

KRAUS--David,

92, a World War II-era Navy veteran, founded Skyline Windows, based in the Bronx, where he was born, and which now employs 350 people. David, who passed away at home in Manhattan on Thursday, December 7, was a captain in every sense, with an indomitable spirit that never left and inspired everyone around him. David was a patriarch, an ocean sailor, a boat builder, a sculptor and a patron of the arts who seized every day. He was a man who lived his life with undying passion and enormous compassion. David is survived by his wife, Susan; children and stepchildren Steven, Kenny, Emily, Leslie, Brett and Jed; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy, Francesca, Mark, John and Deborah; and 10 grandchildren: Matt, Laura, Drew, Julia, Lauren, Joshua, Hunter, Ryan, Jack and Max. Funeral Service Sunday, December 10, at 3:30pm from Frank E. Campbell "The Funeral Chapel," 1076 Madison Ave. (81st), New York.

David was an inspiration to all of us. He had many great qualities and always amazed me with his newest project or sculpture. He had tremendous courage, fought the fight and believed good things were possible. My love and condolences to Susan and his wonderful family. I give thanks now and always for our friendship over the last 40 years. I will never forget your drive to our first house and that you were there for my fathers funeral in New Jersey. I miss you now and always. Love Janet Apfel
