It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed partner Todd Lang on February 6. He was 93 years old. Mr. Lang was born in 1924. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1945 and graduated from Yale Law School in 1947. He joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in 1948, bringing the total lawyer count at the time to just 18. He then went on to become Weil's tenth partner. Mr. Lang chaired Weil's Corporate Department for many years. In addition, Mr. Lang, together with Ira Millstein, Harvey Miller and Jesse Wolff, managed the Firm up until 1989, overseeing Weil's tremendous growth during this time period and fostering the Firm's culture of entrepreneurship, teamwork, camaraderie and the commitment to the greater community that remains Weil's hallmark today. With a commitment to the legal profession both within Weil and outside, Mr. Lang was Chair of the Board of Advisors for Yale Law School's Center for the Study of Corporate Law, and formerly served as Chair of the Yale Law School Fund and Chair of the Legal Advisory Board of the National Association of Securities Dealers School. He served as a member of the Special Committee on Shareholder Voting Rights of the American Stock Exchange, and was involved in committees of the American Bar Association, among many other organizations. He was also actively involved in Brandeis University, including being a fellow of the school. He was also a trustee of the Irma T. Hirschl and Monique Weill- Caulier Trusts, which provide funds for medical research, medical scholarships and charitable organizations. Mr. Lang's legacy will live on through his many contributions to the law and greater community. He was an excellent lawyer and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his many colleagues and friends at Weil and beyond. Mr. Lang was a beloved father and devoted husband. He is survived by his wife, Joann, four children, and several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
