WILLIS PYLE Obituary

PYLE--Willis Acton,

Disney animator and artist, passed away on Thursday, June 2, at the age of 101 in his Broadway penthouse apartment. Born in Lebanon, KS in 1914, he attended the University of Colorado before joining the Disney Studios. Working with UPA, he helped develop the near-sighted Mr. Magoo, and shared the 1950 Academy Award for animation for Gerald McBoing- Boing. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia, his brother the actor Denver Pyle, and his sister Lorrayne. He is survived by his nephews Tony and David Pyle and David's family. Willis will be missed by all.

We will miss Willis and being part of the family was special. His memory will always bring smiles to our faces. His visits to our home and to the University of Colorado were special as well as his and Pat's warmth when I was in NYC for visits and his 100th birthday bash.
