I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Greifer's passing. He was a wonderful, kind man, a brilliant doctor and a true gentleman. I was a patient of his for many years, and I strongly believe that he is the reason I have done as well as I have. As an adult, I contacted him when I needed clarification on something. Dr. Greifer took the time to sit with me and answer all of my questions, and as always, his calming voice and gentle demeanor helped me through. He will be missed by all of us whose lives he touched over the years. May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion & Jerusalem.

No one at Frost Valley will ever forget Dr. Greifer's efforts to help children with kidney disease have a normal experience at summer camp, hanging out and making friends with healthy children. He made such a world of difference for these kids, and we will never forget him for it.

My name is Dr. Jason Gotlib; I'm 46 years old tomorrow and I'm saddended to hear that Dr. Greifer has passed. He saved my life from nephrotic syndrome in 1971, corticosteroid-refractory, but then put into remission with Cytoxan. I was 3 yrs old at the same, and visited him for annual checkups until age 12 or 13 or so. I visited Dr. Greifer some 10 years ago to thank him. Claire was his secretary at the time. My parents consider Dr. Greifer no less than a hero, and my experiences with him, and my appreciation of his care, was the driving force that consciously and subconsciously led to my becoming a doctor. I am now an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology at Stanford University School of Medicine and I am indebted to Dr. Greifer. He lives on as a special memory in the history of my family. With Love and Appreciation, JG ([email protected])

Dr Greifer was my daughter's doctor for many years. He was brilliant in his medical acumen, but equally important, his warmth and intuitive manner was extraordinary in dealing with a child from toddler stage through to adult. We will never forget him. May his memory be a blessing to his family and to all who knew and loved him.

I was a patient in (adolescent) pediatrics at Albert Einstein in September 1966. Dr. Greifer was my doctor (my family had connections to Einstein and I was sent straight to him). I was extremely sick and it was Dr. Greifer who determined that I was not dying (not something taken for granted when I entered), but he also determined that my problems were not in the realm of Nephrology and sent me to his colleague the late Dr. Murray Davidson.
Although it has been a very long time, I still remember him fondly from Einstein. He was a great doctor, positive and optimistic, something not always easy in that department.
