DUNCAN ANDREWS

ANDREWS--Duncan (11 May 1935 - 17 March 2011), bookman, poet, and scholar, died today in Manhattan after a protracted illness. Mr. Andrews, a former advertising executive and a past president of DKE, formed important collections of the manuscripts and writings of Sir John Betjeman (now at Yale); on foxhunting ("Tally Ho! Four Hundred Years of Foxhunting", exhibited at the Grolier Club in New York City in 1976); and of the English engraver Stephen Gooden (1892-1955), whose biography and catalogue raisonne he wrote. He had a second career as an antiquarian bookseller associated with the firm of James Cummins Bookseller in New York City. His friends and former colleagues salute the memory of this most convivial of gentlemen.
