KOCH--Edward I. The City College of New York mourns the passing of Edward I. Koch, '81, one of our most illustrious graduates. He attended CCNY from 1941-1943 until, like many of his classmates, he was drafted into the Army during World War II. He received his bachelor's degree in 1981, and received the honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters in 2011. He was also honored that year at the College's Presidential Awards Dinner. Inspired by his service to the City of New York, City College established the Edward I. Koch Scholarships in Public Service to provide financial support and opportunities for students to experience the rewards that come from performing public service. The qualities that made him a great Mayor and public servant - commitment, tenacity, striving, problem solving, achievement, and love of our city - are embodied in our alumni and serve as a model for our current student body and the entire City College community. Lisa S. Coico, President, The City College of New York
