LAUDER--Evelyn. The Trustees and staff of the Whitney Museum of American Art mourn, with great sorrow, the loss of Evelyn H. Lauder, beloved wife of our Chairman Emeritus Leonard A. Lauder and mother of William and Gary. Evelyn was a dynamic and gracious woman and a visionary philanthropist. She had a marvelous aesthetic sense, evident in everything she did from her work with Estee Lauder, her style as hostess, cook, and gardener to her great talent as a photographer. She faced her illness with courage and a great joy for life. She was an inspiration to those around her. She was warm, helpful in times of need, and there for her friends, family and even many who hardly knew her. So too are we--the Whitney Museum family--here for Leonard and his family. Flora Miller Biddle, Honorary Chairman Robert J. Hurst, Co-Chairman Brooke Garber Neidich, Co-Chairman Neil G. Bluhm, President Adam D. Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown, Director
