LOUIS SILVERSTONE Obituary

SILVERSTONE--Louis Silverstone of Port Jefferson, NY, formerly of Long Beach, NY passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015 at age 90. Lou grew up in Plainfield, NJ and graduated from Plainfield High School. At the age of 18, he was drafted into the US Army and for a while served as a medic in a hospital stateside. When he was discharged, he attended the University of Illinois studying accounting. After working as an accountant for several years, he finally realized his dream of being a comedy writer--through sheer determination and relentless persistence, he landed a job at MAD Magazine. He was one of "The Usual Gang of Idiots" at MAD Magazine from 1962 to 1990. Lou wrote parodies of television shows and movies, as well as other types of comedy pieces for MAD. In 1990, he became an editor and writer at Cracked Magazine. Lou is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary, devoted son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jennifer, brother, Bob Silverstone of Montauk, NY, sister, Anne Glasser, of Westfield, NJ, and light-of-his-life grandchildren, Madison and James.

Dearest Beloveds, Thank Youzzz for sharing Lou with us all... His works were indeed part and parcel to my developing love for edgy comedy, which in turn, matured his audiences everywhere to think and LOOK outside the box. So happy so learn he was bounded in love with Mary for 61 years, and surrounded by devoted family! Sending you all grateful hugs and love, and Blessings of Peace in your time of grief, but appreciation for his Celebration of Life well lived! oxo
