He was the very model of what a fine psychiatrist should be. Grateful for his life, so sorry about his loss.

Dr. Ullman was a kind and wise mentor a pioneer in dream interpretation and the very model of what e hopes to find in a (non-drug) psychiatrist. One wonders if they make his kind of person anymore. Rest in peace.

I knew Dr Ullman when he supervised me at Einstein. He was inspirational. To a beginner he was all that a psychiatrist should be - honest, brilliant and kind.

The first time I met Monty was thanks to his friend, and my mentor, Rachel Lauer, who suggested I take his dream analysis workshop. Seated in his home, I first noticed his books, so many shelves and shelves of books, and every one of them popping with postits on page after page. His rigor inspired me, and when I finished my doctorate, he sent me a handwritten note, "Congrats on finishing the PhD. That aint easy!" That unassuming wonder made it easy to underestimate the powerhouse of Monty's intelligence coupled with his empathy. I was stunned to later read the Bindelof story of his experience with Geoff, Rachel's husband, when they were teens and encountered paranormal phenomena. I'm so sad to hear he's gone.

The night after Monte died, I had a vivid dream, the most colorful dream I can ever recall. In the dream, I was given a sceptre by a ruling council. Our king had just died, and the council wanted to pass on the kingdom to me. I said that I was not worthy of such an honor because I did not have the impressive array of talents that the deceased king possessed. I insisted they give the honor to someone else, or perhaps a group of people -- including me -- because no one person could come up to the multi-talented former king.

My father was a special man. He had the gift to heal. He was able to listen to and solve problems with ease. His gentle soft voice was soothing and so heartfelt in his words. Magic was an early passion, in particular, Houdini who really captured his imagination. This led to séances as a teenager which brought back the spirit of Dr. Bindelof and triggered his interest in the paranormal. But his dream work was his ultimate passion. Holding workshops and teaching his own method of how to analyze dreams was his goal. Not too many people achieve their goal in life and he was able to do just that. My father was such a quiet and unassuming guy who possessed so many fine qualities, such as he never bragged or boasted. He was always honest and truthful. He had a wicked sense of humor. He worked hard to provide for his family and in the end, his dream did come true.

Montague Ullman
The ultimate dream man
Who developed his famous protocol
For dream analysis and residue recall
Who filled dream groups with wisdoms
And many humorous witticisms
And intuitive meaningful perceptions
That hit right on the dream metaphor’s deepest connections
We were all graced with his presence
And his extraordinary insightful 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th sense
We wish him well on his new journey
Though his energy is still within the implicate order of Bohm’s theory
You see, we’re all connected to Monte and everything else from all of space and time
Wholeness flowing together through the universe like bunches of grapes on a floating vine
So we still have you Monte, always have and always will
We cherish moments from your physical, explicate presence, but you will forever be close to us still

Monty was not only my grandfather, but a good friend and caring adviser. I will miss sharing letters with him about his work, and keeping him up to date about our lives in Colorado.

Monte was a remarkable man, a person of true integrity. He worked devotedly to hone and share the themes he most deeply believed in, shedding light on our human capacity for wholeness. His contributions to the fields of dream work and parapsychology are profound—not only in terms of conceptual thought (though Monte was a consummate thinker), but also in terms of the hands-on method he created for working with dreams, a method designed to tap their healing potential (individually and collectively).
Monte touched the lives of countless people around the globe, through dream groups, formal writings, correspondence, and acts of friendship. I was a fortunate recipient of those gifts, whose value cannot be measured. His warmth, generosity, kindness, and unflagging support have been a great blessing. It is a comfort to know that Monte will always be present in my heart—and that many more visits await us in the dream world.

Monte was my uncle and my friend. He was also a role model --a gentle, soft-spoken, wise man who was as self-effacing as any person I've ever known.
He could converse about anything and had a twinkle in his eye that was part of his warm and gracious demeanor.
There is so much more to say about the part he played in my life but I will stop now. I will miss him.
