Alfred Gold Obituary

GOLD--Alfred I., fondly known at "Fritz", a resident of Park Avenue, New York and Westhampton Beach, New York, passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, on January 8, 2009. Fritz was the adored husband of Patricia and the late Shirley Robbins. He is survived by his loving children, Andrew and Peter, their wives Sara and Merrydith, stepson Allan, five grandchildren, Collyn, Rachel, Benjamin, Daniel and Charlotte and niece and nephew Bill and Wendy Kaminer. Fritz, a Yale graduate, had a very successful career in Real Estate, spanning over fifty years as an architect, builder and principal of many commercial properties on Long Island and Queens. As an avid collector and respected historian of American and British maritime art, he was a devoted trustee and contributor at both the South Street Seaport in New York and the Peabody Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. A veteran of World War II, Fritz served on the western front, spending eight months as a prisoner of war. Fritz received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his service to his country. A memorial service will be held on a later date.
