WATSON--Charles.

Charles Greenough Watson, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2018 at his home in Vero Beach, FL. Son of Charles Watson 3rd and Polly Fay Watson, he was 87 years old and a long time resident of New Canaan, CT. Mr. Watson graduated from St. George's School and was a member of the class of 1954 of Yale University. Following Yale, he served in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Officer in the 11th Airborne Division, in Munich, Germany. In 1996, he retired as a Managing Partner of Brundage, Story & Rose, which at the time was one of the country's oldest investment advisory firms. The Firm was eventually sold to Bessemer Trust and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. Mr. Watson also served on the Board of Swiss Re American Holding Corporation. Additionally, Mr. Watson was on the Board of Trustees of The Country Club of New Canaan and, for many years, the Board of St. George's School in Newport, RI. He was active in the alumni activities of Yale University, as an Alumni Class Agent, former class Treasurer and former class Secretary. Mr. Watson is remembered for his love of his family and friends, and the game of golf. He was a member of the Musketeers, and brought a zest for life to everyone with whom he interacted. While his culinary skills did not quite qualify for Michelin status as he failed to pass the peanut butter and toast stage, his loyalty to others, approachable demeanor, insistence on "doing it right" and sense of humor will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy McCall Watson, a daughter, Wendy Watson Porter (Christopher) of Vero Beach, FL and a son, Charles Ewart Watson (Anne), of New Canaan, CT. He was blessed by five boisterous grandsons, who kept him on his toes: Charles McCall Watson, William Gunnar Watson and August Briggs Watson of New Canaan, CT and Christopher Todd Porter Jr. and Cooper Eagles Porter of Vero Beach, FL. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. George's School, P.O. Box #1910, Newport, RI 02840, Attention: Helen Cassels.
