DONALD DEMING Obituary

DEMING--Donald L., passed away on April 9, 2014 at his retirement home in Fort Myers, FL. He was 89 and succumbed to lung cancer. Don was born on July 30, 1924 in Ahmednager, India where his parents, Wilbur and Elsie had been missionaries for many years. Don, his siblings Mary and Bill, and his parents returned from India in 1934 and settled in Washington, CT where his father served as the Congregational minister. He joined a tank unit, was sent to Europe and served in Alsace and Germany with the United States Seventh Army. He returned to Yale, graduated in 1947, and was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa key. Subsequently, Don went to Yale Law School. After graduation in 1950, he joined the firm of Chadbourne & Parke, New York City. He remained with the firm for over forty years as a corporate lawyer. He did work for a variety of clients and retired in 1992, after having been the senior partner of the firm for the last few years. Don is survived by Meleanor, his wife of 62 years; three sons, David, James and Robert; their spouses, Jamie, Sharon and Burnedette; five grandchildren, Peter, Julia, Meredith, Emily, and Logan; and their spouses, Jessica (Peter) and Eric Vaughn (Julia); and one great-grandchild, Kate Deming.
