KOCH--Edward I. The Board, Women's Committee, and staff of the Central Park Conservancy deeply mourn the loss of Edward Koch, whose vision for New York City made today's Central Park possible. As mayor, he authorized an unprecedented public-private partnership to restore Central Park, whose deteriorated condition had become a symbol of the fiscal crisis he inherited. For his leadership and foresight in the formation of the Conservancy, we are eternally grateful.
