WACHTEL--Edwin. It is with great sadness that we mourn Edwin Wachtel, who passed away on New Year's Eve 2012, after a battle with stomach cancer. Born in France in 1931, Ed was raised in Panama with his sister and two brothers. He was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. In 1961, he married Norma, to whom he was a devoted and loving husband for 43 years. An inspired innovator and entrepreneur, he made his way into the fashion industry, where he became co-founder, CEO and President of Europe Craft Imports, Inc. It was there that he established the Members Only brand, best known for its groundbreaking cause-related advertising campaigns and the iconic jacket that became a global phenomenon. An avid golfer with a hole-in-one to his credit, Ed's true passion was thoroughbred horses. As founder of Exeter Stables, he was an esteemed owner and breeder. Ed will be greatly missed by brothers Edmond and Henry, children Alan, Jonathan, Adam and Adina, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
