To this day, every time I am going to Mt Sinai on 5th Avenue, when I pass his office, I think of Dr Forster. I will never forget his kindness and the care he gave to my mother- and to me. I have not found any other doctor like him. He was one of a kind.

George, today I thought about you. I can´t believe you are gone - albeit 8 years. You were a loving, compassionate and caring man ... I never met anyone like you. You were so dear to me and everyone who knew you. Knowing you for 25 years holds such memories and I will never forget you. Your sense of humor, your love for literature and art. I will never forget the phone calls no matter what time when I had severe headaches. You would talk to me until I fell asleep. It´s rare that someone meets a person like you in their lifetime. You will always have a piece of my heart, dear, sweet, brilliant, caring George.

I and your target were fellow Mrdical residente at Maimonedes Medical Center Goldberg Building 1972-73, and your late mom was the chief nurse on the unit. Fantastic to have been with both then. We drifted apart over the the years, which I embarassingly regret.
I was shocked by his and your mom's passings. Your eulogy at the funeral was fantastic and winner up what a wonderful cool guy your dad was. Imagine a medical resident in Brooklyn driving a sports car.
Your eulogy also sviare what a fine son he has who mare his parents so proud.

Dr Forster saved my mother, Natalie Nierenberg's life. When she was in ICU 6 years ago, he came every morning and sat with me and told me that no matter what any of the younger doctors there said, he had 40 years of experiemce and said she would make it. His empathy, his compassion, his expertise & his grace was my solace- and my mother recovered and is still with me. I am truly stunned and saddened to hear of his death. He will be remembered.

I am very sad to hear about Dr. Forster's death. He was such a smart, warm, funny man. I have been seeing him for the past 13 years and he treated my father and mother before me.
I will always remember how generous he was and what a skilled doctor he was.
I will miss him.

George - when we first met, 40 years ago, I was 19 and I'm sure I never expected to know you the better part of my life.   Well, over those years you remained my trusted physician and became something just as important - my friend. Your wisdom, guidance, and humor were constants and we always found time to kvell over our children's travels and accomplishments. Literature was your first passion and you never missed an opportunity to quote a favorite character. Now I will remember your smile and those wonderful hugs, and always cherish my safety pins. My heart is aching and I will miss you. I wish Danny strength for the days, weeks and months ahead.

To some you were a doctor, to some you were a friend. I was so fortunate to have you as both. The calls from across the country at all hours, only a few special doctors and friends would do that. You will be so missed, but never forgotten.

We met George over a year ago for the first time through our dear friend and George's love, Adelle. I don't know him as a Doctor. I know him as a gentle, wise, easy going and respectful of all, and most of all as a friend. You do not meet someone as George to often, maybe once in a life time. We met many times, at his apartment and at our house, we will miss him and always remember our good fortune of meeting and befriending such a great guy, full of happy life!

I was shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the death of Dr. George Forster, who treated me successfully starting about 10 years ago for a herniated disk in my neck and checked on my condition since then in six-month office visits. He was a wonderful physician who clearly explained things and obviously cared deeply about his patients. He was a pleasure to talk to and a real gentleman who really will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at Mt. Sinai.

An absolutely lovely man . . . and a superb, caring physician. Probably saved my life! His gentle, positive energy lives on all those who "realize" the doctor-patient relationship as the *core* of medical practice.

I was so saddened today to learn of Dr. Forster's death. I have been a patient for many years and was supposed to see him next week. Years ago, when I had severe vertigo, I went to many doctors and had many expensive tests. No one knew what it was. Dr. Forster had me close my eyes and march in place. I wound up halfway across the room and slanted towards the right. A simple test he had learned in the army. He immediately diagnosed an inner ear infection and assured me it would get me better of its own accord. And sure enough, it did. He was warm and kind and a brilliant diagnostician. It will be tough to find a better doctor.

To the Forster family: My deepest condolences on your losst. I worked with Dr. Forster in my early years as a houseoffice at Mt. Sinai Hospital and had had the privilege of taking care of his mother in the CCU. He was a true Renaissance man and a wonderful raconteur. Over the years, he saw my mother periodically for a neurological problem, yet always remembered to give me a call and briefly chat about her progress.
He was a wonderful physician whose humanity was worn on his sleeve daily. There are few physicians like him today. I shall miss him.
