Gerse was such a sweet character & a fantastic swimmer. It was my great honor to know Gerse & Pearl & their family when we all swam for the Freeport Wrecks Masters team. He was unforgettable & loved by all.

Gerson was one of a kind. A true friend, gentleman, raconteur and a fantastic swimmer. He swam in his last meet at the age of 100!
He will always be remembered by all who knew and loved him, and into whose lives he brought a ray of sunshine.
He was my much loved teammate on the Freeport Wrecks Masters swimming team.

Our hearts go out to the Sobel family on the loss of a truly amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather. For those of us fortunate to have known and loved him, and swum with him on the Freeport Wrecks team, this is the end of an era. We will always remember this funny, gentle, so very sweet man. Gerse, you were, and always will be, part of our extended family, and we will always love you.
