Greta Greene Obituary
Greta Greene, of Brooklyn, NY, died on Monday, May 18th in New York at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell at the age of 2. Greta was born on April 27, 2013. She is survived by her parents, Jayson Greene and Stacy Frierson Greene; her grandparents Susan Frierson of New York City; and Joni Greene and Arthur Greene of Olean, New York; She is predeceased by her grandfather John Frierson of Virginia.
Sensitive, intuitive, and aware from the moment she opened her eyes, Greta was a bright light to all who knew her. She was early to find her voice, quick to master the art of conversation, and seemed to understand that the world could be a very funny, delightful place, if you looked at it right. She opened her parents' eyes to the small joys in life through her understanding of human nature beyond her years and shared her love of food and animals everywhere she went. Her family and friends mourn her loss, but her spirit is ever-present in all of our hearts.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a donation be made in memory of Greta Greene to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. Make your gift to payable to New York Presbyterian Fund Inc and include on the memo line "Gift in Memory of Greta Greene to PICU/NYP Weill Cornell."

I am remembering Greta today, on the 9th anniversary of her death and still think of her all the time. i'm not sure why this beautiful little girl left such a deep impression on my heart, but she has. as i re-read her obituary i thought maybe it's our shared love of food but it's more likely our shared love of animals. though years apart we are kindred spirits. Blessings to the family.

Remembering Greta and her family on the 8th anniversary of her death. She would have been an awesome big sister and i'm sure her brother would have looked up to and loved her so much. I especially hope her Grandma is doing well and that the whole family has found peace.

I am thinking of Greta today, as I often do, imagining what an awesome 8 year old she would be if she were still here. It brings a smile to my face just to imagine it. Sending love and peace to the family, as you celebrate her life. She has made a lasting impression on the hearts of so many.

Every year, for the past 4 years, I have marked the anniversary of Greta's death on my calendar. I glanced at the date this morning and thought "Wow, she would be 6 years old!". I imagined what she might be like if she were here today. Although I never met Greta, I think about her all the time and my sister and I often talk about her. When I checked my email I had a request from Legacy, inviting me to share another memory about Greta, as I had done 3 years ago. As I sat there thinking about her, the events of that tragic day, and what I might write, the aromatic scent of roses filled the air around my desk. it was so strong that I quickly got up out of my chair to find the source of it. I immediately called my neighbor to ask if she was using anything rose scented and she was not. It only lasted about 30 seconds but left me feeling very peaceful. I later read that "the scent of roses in the air, when no roses are nearby, is a sign that an angel might be communicating with you". I just want to share this experience with Greta's family, hoping it might bring them some peace.

I'm thinking of Greta and her family today, as the one year anniversary of her death has passed. Even though we never met, I think of her every day. She made such a deep impression on my heart. I pray that her family has been able to find a degree of peace and joy in this world without their "bright light". She is still with them.

My daughter Ava came upon Greta's tree in Prospect Park. The tree was surrounded by butterflies and it put a smile on Ava's little face. No words can truly express our condolences but please know that Greta's beautiful spirit lives on in that tree and that we will be thinking of her whenever we pass it again.

Just to let you know that Little Greta's Spirit is remembered in Ireland. I used to live in NYC in that area in the 90's. I read the NY papers online daily, so was so sad to read this story back in May.
I cannot explain why your little girl who I have never met has touched my heart here in Ireland, 3000k miles away but for some reason the name Greta Green comes into my mind when I am out walking especially in the Irish woods. There is just something about her little face.
So to her dear parents, please know that her little spirit lights here in Ireland at times and she is in my thoughts which I cannot explain having never met you or her. She must be a global Spirit and will be travelling in the ether for years to come. Niamh O' Sullivan, Carlow, Ireland.

Tears are falling down my face for you.
I have a "Greta" too. She will be 10 years old next week. I'll never forget one of the nurses in the maternity ward who mentioned what a beautiful name it is and you don't hear it very often.
We don't know each other, but please know that your Greta is in my heart.
