BARASH--Irvin, Born in Philadelphia on August 13, 1938 to Benjamin and Beatrice Barash, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30. A graduate of Drexel University and Columbia Business School, he was President of Vencon Management, Inc., a venture capital firm, which has been involved in all aspects of renewable energy. In the early 80's, he provided his expertise to such companies as Atlantic Richfield. In the mid 90's, under contract to the US Department of Energy, he created a venture initiative, the NREL Growth Forums for new renewable energy ventures. Prior to VMI, he was Director of Planning for BASF Corporation, responsible for mergers and acquisitions at W.R. Grace, and Assistant to the President of Belco Petroleum. He has also been on numerous US Government panels regarding the commercialization of alternative energy, photonic and other technologies. During the early 1970's, he was Director of Economic Studies for the Price Commission, a White House initiative to stabilize pricing. He is mourned by his wife of 44 years, AnneMarie, and his daughter, Lisa.
