IRWIN SCHNEIDERMAN Obituary

SCHNEIDERMAN--Irwin. Brooklyn College mourns the passing of Irwin Schneiderman '43, reported in The New York Times on November 17, who has served on the board of trustees for the Brooklyn College Foundation since 1983. A noted philanthropist and attorney who specialized in advising troubled corporations, Mr. Schneiderman was president of the board of trustees from 1990 to 1992. Born in Brooklyn on May 28, 1923, he served in the Navy shortly after graduating from college. Thanks to the G.I. Bill, after the war he attended the Harvard Law School, where he eventually established the Irwin Schneiderman Scholarship Fund specifically for pre-law Brooklyn College graduates. In 1993, Brooklyn College awarded him an honorary doctorate of humane letters at its commencement exercises. Mr. Schneiderman is remembered by his fellow trustees and the entire Brooklyn College community.
