JAMES WATERBURY Obituary

WATERBURY--James Montaudevert (Monty), of Manhattan and East Hampton, NY, died peacefully of complications from Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 85, surrounded by his family at his home in Stamford, CT. Born August 8, 1927, Monty was the son of Cleveland Livingston Waterbury and Frances Riddle Waterbury of New York City. He attended Aiken Preparatory School followed by St. Paul's School in Concord, NH. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and upon his return attended Yale University, graduating in 1950. Monty is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Kay Simonson, and their five devoted children (Jim, Hope, Christine, Carol and Sue); five grandchildren, and his sister, Cynthia. Following graduation from Yale, Monty first worked for the Waterbury Rope Company, founded by his great uncle. He spent most of his professional life in the securities industry, at the farmer National Securities and Research Corporation (a New York mutual fund company founded by his father-in-law, Henry J. Simonson), and Hambrecht & Quist. Later, he founded Golfsearch, a professional recruiting firm in the sport he loved most. His knowledge and passion for golf lead him to serve as a Governor at numerous clubs, including The Creek Club, The Maidstone Club, and National Golf Links of America. Monty will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his friendship, generosity and enthusiasm for life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. lgnatius Loyola Church, 980 Park Avenue (at 84th St.), New York City, at 11am on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
