JESSE D. WOLFF

WOLFF--Jesse David. Our partner and former firm leader Jesse Wolff was a unique person who was a major contributor to our firm and those associated with it. His entire life as a lawyer was spent at the firm after he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1938 interrupted only by military service. Jesse was exceptional, not only in terms of his legal ability but also his humanity coupled with a sense of reality and his extraordinary judgment to the benefit of the firm and its clients. Jesse earned the respect of everyone who came in contact with him. He had uniform credibility not only because of his legal and other abilities but because he always called things "as they are." Jesse was in the tradition of great lawyers who did not specialize, but could manage and advise in many areas of the law and act as a problem solver. His "expertise" included art and the auction market, textiles, real estate and trust and estates. His imprint on the firm not only contributed significantly to its growth but also to its traditions and culture. He will be sorely missed. To Betty and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, we extend our deepest sympathy. It is our hope that his importance to us as individuals as well as to the firm as a whole is recognized. Jesse will always have our highest respect and affection.
