JOHN NEWMAN Obituary

NEWMAN--John E., Jr., 87, died August 10, Norwalk Hospital. A resident of New Canaan, formerly of New York City, he graduated from Newark Academy, Princeton University '50 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean War. He spent many years on Wall Street. Born September 24, 1928, son of the late John E. and Mary Ingersoll Newman, survived by brother Charles I. of Essex Fells, NJ; sister Eleanor N. Caulkins of Denver, CO., step-son Alexander G. Smith of New York City, wife Peggy and grandchildren, Charlotte and Oliver, and step-daughter, Victoria Sartorius of Rye, NY. He was predeceased by brother Bruce E. Newman. He spent many happy summers in Quogue, LI and winter visits to Vero Beach, FL. He spent his last 10 years "doting on his grandchildren". In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps., 180 South Ave., New Canaan, CT 06840.
