JOSEPH HUTNER Obituary

HUTNER--Joseph L., 78, died after a brave 20 year struggle with Parkinson's. Joe is survived by his wife Willa, daughters Laura (Harry Hummel), Susan and Amy, brother Martin and grandchildren, Erica, Alexandra and Gabriel. Joe graduated from Yale (Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude). After graduating from Harvard Law School, Joe practiced law at Singer Hutner, Levine and Seeman and until his death, at Epstein, Becker and Green. He ran for New York State Assembly in 1964 and for US Congress in 1966. He loved sports, reading and people. The family will sit Shiva at 200 East 66th St. on Sunday and Monday from 2-6pm.

On behalf of the Board and staff of Appleseed, I send condolences to the family. As one of our founders, Mr. Hutner imagined leaving a legacy of justice and opportunity for all. We remain inspired by his vision to this day.
