JOSHUA KRUTER Obituary

KRUTER--Joshua Mason.

Devoted husband and father, dies at 42. A graduate of Boston College, he received his MBA with honors from Columbia University. Naturally driven, Mr. Kruter explored new ways to bring technological innovation to the field of communication and advertising. This served him well in his career as a marketing and advertising executive for Forbes Media and Virgin Mobile USA. For the last year, Josh worked at OUTFRONT Media where he led development of the company's new digital advertising platform. In this role, Josh also represented the company in speaking engagements, industry innovation committees and led dialogues with ad agencies and clients. His passion for the arts also led him to explore the local music scene, finding new talent and generously sharing his latest discoveries with friends, family and readers of Rockfeedback.com where he served as the New York City editor. He was a loving son to his parents, Robin and Rich, and to his brother Lee and sister Lesley. He was especially devoted to his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Madeleine Rose. Josh loved and lived immensely and will be missed more than words can say.

I had the privilege of meeting Josh a couple of times in LA, and he left an indelible impression. A whirlwind of energy, intelligence, humor, creativity and insight. He was impossible to miss, and impossible not to like instantly. My condolences to his family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing, loving and living with an exceptional man.

This is such shocking and sad news. Josh was sweet, brilliant, funny and a walking music encyclopedia. Working at Virgin Mobile, he was dogged, determined and dedicated. He did everything 110% including his marriage and fatherhood. He and Jenn brought Madeline Rose to my birthday/Hanukah party...I thought she was the present! They came to check out Michael's bands and Josh was always available to help brainstorm and network. What a terrible loss to his family and friends. And a huge gap left in the Virgin Mobile circle. RIP

Words cannot express the depth of my sorrow over the passing of Josh. My prayers and thoughts go out to Jen and Madeleine, My Aunt Norma and Cousins Robin and Richie, Michael, Lee, Lesley, Robert, Tracy, Charlotte and Bailey. There is nothing more important to me than family. My Mom and my Aunt Norma's close sister love set the example of that meaningfulness growing up. All my childhood memories right up to today are filled with all our family traditions of holidays and special occasions spent all together. They mean everything to me. I know all who love Josh will keep his memory alive and may it bring some peace and be a blessing to his family. All our love from the Dash's. We will always be here for you all ❤

As someone who got to know Josh as a work colleague at both Virgin Mobile and iHeartRadio, a commuting partner for hundreds of twice-daily hour-long commutes, and then subsequently, a trusted, life-long friend forever connected by witty text message volleys, I'm deeply saddened and admittedly confused by how we all lost such an inspired, intelligent, inquisitive, and insightful person much too prematurely. Josh gave me (and so many others) so much... wisdom, laughs, and unrelenting loyalty. He was a tireless worker and friend and his light and the laughter that fueled our car ride on so many mornings and late-night commutes will forever stay with me. My thoughts and prayers are with Jen, Madeline, Jen and Josh's family and all those he touched with his wonderful, slightly offbeat, but always genuine brand. In my book, there will be only one Josh. Love to you, Josh - may your eternal commute continue and I hope that many more passengers get to experience the journey you and I had together.

My heart is simply broken. I will always remember our wonderful times at Boston College thereafter...The world is a darker place without your bright light, Josh. Wishing peace to you and comfort to your family.

My heart is crying for Robin, Richie,Norma, Michael, Jen, Madeleine, Lesley, Lee, Robert, Tracy, Bailey and Charlotte. We knew Josh from the day he was born. We have so many wonderful memories of him as a child, adolescent, young man and adult. His humor. His warmth. His intelligence. There is a hole in the world that can never be filled now that he is gone. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
