Dear Abe, Helene & Nancy
I am truly saddened.
Please accept my condolences at Larry's passing as I just heard the news. I had not seen Larry since we were good friends in grade school at PS 24 and little league teammates, but I had never forgotten him.
Besides being bright, he was always a kind and extremely funny person who could make people laugh. That was a gift. Nothing will erase those memories. After he went to Hunter we lost touch. I am sure that throughout his life the people he came in contact with, he made that same type of positive impact.
Again, please accept my sincerest condolences.

Dear Abe, Helene and Kate:
I was so saddened to hear of Larry's passing. I have very warm memories of him from Hunter days, and was able to see him at his last Hunter reunion. Just knowing that she was Larry's sister, made Kate/Nancy a cherished friend at Oberlin and beyond. My thoughts and wishes for peace are with you.
Much love to you all.

Dear Helene, Abe and Nancy,
Larry and I were young together at Hunter. He was like a mischievous sprite, so smart and independent, gentle and slightly mysterious always. A little intimidating, never predictable. After so many years I can honestly see his beautiful eyes and smile. He had rough edges like any diamond and he was a treasure. LL

Dear Popish family,
I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Larry's passing. I met Larry when I was 16 and was very close with him for many years. I will always remember his quick wit, his awareness and knowledge that seemed so advanced for a person his age, his profoundly spiritual nature, and his wonderful sense of humor and warmth. I learned many things from Larry that helped shape who I am today.
It is my belief that when we leave this earth a part of us lives on in the memories and imprints we leave with those we knew. Please know that I cherish those imprints and will hold them dear for the rest of my life.
I send you my deepest compassion during this difficult time.
With gratitude,
Eric Kalabacos

Dear Abe, Helene, and Nancy,
I really can only barely begin to imagine what you all must be experiencing right around now. I feel for all of you-probably more than you realize, just as I have always cared for Larry probably a lot more than he ever realized. I've been very moved witnessing a genuine out poring of memories, love and caring from all directions in the aftermath of his sudden untimely death. I will never ever forget him. And my heart really goes out to you all. Please be in touch when you can, and please know that if there is anything at all I can do-I will.
Love,

I'm so sad for all of you. I also went to Hunter with Larry; I was pretty close with him for a while, but we drifted apart for a long time, so I was delighted to see him at the 2007 reunion. I met Nancy a few years ago, when she happened into our family bar, so I feel your loss even more deeply.

Dear Mr. and Mr. Popish,
I was very sad to hear of Larry's death. I was in his eighth grade class and although I of course still knew him afterwards I think of him at that age, with his sweet face, hanging around with a couple of much taller boys. There is nothing worse than losing a child and my deep sympathies are with you.
