MIRIAM BIENSTOCK Obituary

BIENSTOCK--Miriam, record business pioneer and theatrical producer, died on Saturday March 21 at the age of 92. Mrs. Bienstock, together with Ahmet Ertegun and her then-husband Herb Abramson, was a founder of Atlantic Records in 1947. During her tenure at Atlantic it became the premier Rhythm and Blues and Jazz label in the United States with a roster that included such giants as Ray Charles, John Coltrane and Bobby Darin. She married the late music publisher Freddy Bienstock in 1957 and left Atlantic in 1962. She later became a theatrical producer, investing in such shows as "Strider" and the current hit musical "Beautiful: The Carol King Musical." She is survived by her two children, Robert and Caroline Bienstock and eight grandchildren. Services 11:15am Tuesday at "The Riverside" 76th St and Amsterdam Ave.

Dear Caroline and Robert,
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. You Mother was an amazing woman. I was blessed to know her and teacher her the Alexander Technique in the last four years of her life. Her vibrant spirt and wisdom were gifts to witness. I will miss her very much.
