Patricia Warner Obituary

WARNER--Patricia. Her friends and family mourn her passing July 29th in London after a short illness. Born in 1936, she was evacuated to Wales during the World War II blitz. Pat attended St. Martin's School of Art in London, then worked at Apple Records. Starting in 1964 Pat was the assistant to Mario Amaya the founding editor of "Art and Artists" in London and moved to Toronto in 1969 as his assistant at the Royal Ontario Museum. In 1971 she became Associate Editor in the Publications Department of the Museum of Modern Art and edited "The Meanings of Modern Art" (1976) by John Russell, and "The Architecture of Luis Barragan" (1976) by Emilio Ambasz. She wrote articles for The New York Times Sunday advertising supplement and was a features writer for Andy Warhol's "Interview". From 1980-1985 Pat was Director of Advertising and Marketing of Tiffany's. She also wrote the introduction to "The Tiffany Wedding" by John Loring (Doubleday, NY, 1988/edited by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis). In 1989 she edited Stephen Harvey's "Directed by Vincente Minnelli". She was a contributing writer for Architectural Digest and Gourmet. In 1990 Pat moved to London, then Norfolk and back to London, where she wrote entries for the "Macmillan Dictionary of Art" (1996). She designed enamel boxes for Halcyon Days and painted portraits of cats and dogs. Her marriage to George White ended in divorce. She married Bradford Warner, Jr. in 1976 and became the stepmother to his daughters, Elizabeth and Claire. They were divorced in 1989. She is missed by all whose lives were enriched by her friendship, her high spirits, her good heart, her intelligence and her imagination.
