BRICKNER--Philip W., M.D., physician, advocate for the medically unreached, mentor, and bibliophile, died peacefully at home on March 24 at age 85. Graduate of The Fieldston School, Swarthmore College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Combined 40 year-career as Chairman of the Department of Community Medicine at St. Vincent's Hospital and Director, Tuberculosis Studies at Mount Sinai Hospital. Cherished husband for 63 years of Alice, father of Jed, Nell, and Maude, grandfather of Daniel, Nora, Lily, Grace, Ariel, Harry, and Simon and brother of Marian and the late Richard. Also survived by daughter-in-law Wendy Weitman and sons-in-law Mitch Eakin and Rock Miller. Plans for a memorial service to follow.
