Pierre Bordeaux-Groult Obituary

BORDEAUX-GROULT-Pierre, died in his 92nd year on Wednesday, August 22nd at the American Hospital in Paris. He was born on March 21, 1916 and was educated in France and in England, receiving degrees from l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales and Oxford University. In World War II, he served with the Free French Forces in Africa and, subsequently, with the French Forces in Germany. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Bronze Star. Later, he held a number of positions with the Mouvement Europeen, becoming Treasurer in 1958. He was also the Founding President of the Comite d'Action pour l'Union Europeenne, a founder of l'Association pour la Concorde Civile et la Fraternite dans les Balkans and a founder of the French food company, Tipiak, S.A. He was an Officier de la Legion d'Honneur, Chevalier des Palmes Academiques and Officer of Merit of the Republic of Germany. He is survived by his wife Calixte, four children, Robert, Daphne, Elisabeth-Charlotte, Marie-Brunhilde and two stepchildren, Henry Mortimer and Victoria de Navacelle and seven grand and step-grandchildren. His first wife, Elise, his son Richard and his grandson Thomas predeceased him. He will be laid to rest at the Chateau de Moncley, his wife's ancestral home.
